AmeriCorps saved me by granting me a place where I could help others and try to change the world, one person at a time. I knew that there were a lot of challenges in schools, and my time with AmeriCorps made it that much more important to me to become involved in education. I struggled a lot during my service, but with the support of my fellow members, the site staff, the AmeriCorps staff, and my friends and family, I persevered and used this new experience to help me pursue and acquire a teaching job in Japan. Nothing can ever replace the impact AmeriCorps had on my life and countless others.
